about me

I am an Engineer-turned-Psychotherapist. I have a BE in Computer Science and Engineering and 16 years of corporate experience in the IT and Banking & Financial Services domain. I set foot in the mental health sector as a Suicide Counsellor for Lifeline Australia in 2010. Over the years I continued working in the mental health and social services sector while I was still in my corporate job. I took up a few postgraduate courses and transitioned fully into the mental health sector, where I now work as a Counselling Psychologist.

I grew up in Guwahati, in Assam. In my 20s and 30s I lived and worked in Australia, with a short time in New York. I returned to Guwahati in 2018 and have been practicing here since. I accumulated a lot of experience working and living in two different cultures. I have grown myself in two careers. And I lived through many life transitions along the way.

All my psychology, mental health, and therapy related studies and training are from Australia and the US.

Clients don't come with a single issue or symptom. My therapeutic approach is integrative and I incorporate components from various modalities. Although I have training in many different treatment modalities, I predominantly use CBT, ACT, EMDR, and Ego-state therapy into my work with individual clients.

When working with families, I incorporate techniques from Triple P and FST in addition to the ones mentioned above.
